eighteen talented young men from our neighborhood have joined together to play soccer in the norwalk league.
the team started a few months ago when a neighbor/parent noticed the large group of talented boys playing pick-up games at the park. he found out that most of the boys were not on any official team and decided to help organize and join a league. they are team barcelona (15-18yrs).
the team worked hard to raise funds to cover the miscellaneous costs of the season (uniforms, practice equipment, registration, etc.) but came up short. we were able to connect the team with the bellflower kiwanis club where the two team captains made a presentation. the kiwanis helped fund the rest of costs for team barcelona making it possible for the team to order matching uniforms & brand new equipment.
the boys play most saturday mornings or early afternoons. you can check the norwalk league website to see the official schedule. team morale is increased when the team sees and hears people cheering them on. check it out this weekend!
